So here we go:How did your own team do this season and what do you think about that outcome?
My Steelers went to 8-8 after starting 0-4 and didn´t make the playoffs. The record did exactly meet my expectations I had when the schedule was published. Even after 0-4 I still believed in a .50-record and was right about it. For a team that is restructured I´m pretty pleased with the outcome to be honest. They found a new reliable RB in Bell and Ben is better than ever... Plus the team never gave up despite the record that never gave the team justice. And let´s face it: If the (Mis)Chiefs had acted like true sportmen last Sunday the Steelers would have made the post-season.. And I´m not saying this because it cost my team the playoffs... Even if it was Baltimore suffering from that decision Kansas City made I´d be mad about it as it was a game that had still playoffs on the line for at least 2 teams... Just my thoughts about it.What as the very key moment for your team this season?
Most people would probably expect me to pick the run by Brown against Miami... but my pick goes actually down to week #2: The “Phantome Tripping Call” at Cincy. For those of you that don´´t remember: Steelers lead 3-0 and had the ball. Ben passes into Bengals´ territory and the pass is caught perfectly shy to the 30. But the call was reversed due to a tripping call against the Steelers which lead to a further penalty. In the slow motion you could exactly see that the Steelers´ player was flat on the ground and a Bengal run int him tripping over the feet... so t was a very bad and undeserved call. Steelers had to punt the ball in the end and Bengals used the new possession too score and take the lead... Pittsburgh was doing gret until that very call and there are little doubts they would have scored on that play... Go 10-0 in Cincy and you win that one... Would have meant a boost for that team and they would never have started the season 0-4... Guess they might have ended 3-1 after 4 games or maybe 2-2 without that call... And after going 8-4 in the last 12 it´s no secret the Steelers would have made it to post-season without that very bad call. So it was that call that was actually THE key moment... What was your personal highlight about your team this season?
Attending the game at Vikings at Wembley Stadium in London, England... NO QUESTION ABOUT IT! Even though the game went lost in the end. It was great to see such great players performe without being forced to use a screen!
Plus I did see legendary “Les Miserables” musical at Queen´s Theatre the night before the big game and had fun inside the “London Dungeon”... What was the lowlight?
I must say the games against Tennessee and at Patriots... The only 2 games in which I actually didn´t see enough fiighting spirit from the Steelers this season and was not ppleased with the performance at all. What are your expectations for your team regarding the upcoming season?
